Has anyone bought or atleast ridden one?
What do you think? I'm in the market.

I rode a suzuki 450 this last weekend along with an 06 450r in the desert by Las Vegas. Both were completely stock. The suzuki had a very responsive throttle and the susupension was plush. The 450r had a bigger hit on the bottom of the powerband. I didn't really rap the suzuki out, because it was just being broken in. I was expecting a bigger difference in the power, it wasn't there on the new suzuki.

Ours should be here this week...or at least that is what I keep telling myself! banghead.gif

My plan is to seat the rings on ours then off to the dyno to get a baseline. After baseline, pull the pea shooter, airbox lid, and install Yosh CRBM or cherry bomb pull again (same day).

Reports are saying the ergos are great. Suspension appears stiff for the lighter riders, but I am not aware of anyone trying to dial in the shocks yet either. Motor does not seem very impressive as delivered from the factory...but, remove air box lid and pea shooter and hold on! I guess with those mods it is noticably stronger then stock YFZ or TRX.

Above paragraph not my personal experience...hour upon hours of useless internet surfing! lol.gif

Im suprised that alot of you kids think this Suzuki is "SUPPOSED" to be so much faster than the YFZ or TRX out of the box,,Its still the same displacement and running on the same track. No one from Suzuki has ever come out and said that it will have 25 more HP than the TRX or YFZ. I for one guarantee it will be equal or slightly better but you cant expect a whole hell of alot from a stock engine.

The best part about these quads is modifying them and personalizing them to your own personal desires. I have seen VERY few people who keep a performance quad completely stock anyhow.

The way I see the LT450 is that it is wide when you buy it and has good shocks FOR the long a-arms. They can be revalved and springed and I'm sure you'll be able to get an adjustable top a-arm from somebody eventually. A pipe is a given on any bike. You just go from there depending on what you can hange on to. My last 2 atvs were a Banshee and Krank-It/Laeger 250R. I can hang on to a lot. I got a 2004 450R last year and my wife took it over. I was REALLY discusted with it. I'm looking for housepower in the low 50's. Thats half between the R and Banshee. Stock the Honda and Yamaha are in the mid 30's. I hoped the Suzuki would be a better bike with the fuel injection. Staying on top of a Carburator sucks. If the injection is like a car it should compensate for whatever you do to the motor. The FCR's are a bizniggle. I'M NOT A KID! I started racing REAL race bikes. I'm just praying that these 450's will get fast enough to compete at 2-stroke speeds without $3000 in the motor. These guys on here think that a stock 450R will smoke a Banshee. They got a lot coming if they ever ride with someone who can actually ride. I got EVERYTHING the 450R had out of it a week after I bought it. Its a blast if you don't want to break 35mph. I heard that Joe Byrd's motor got 62 hp before Lorretta Lynn's last year. That would be more like it but I also heard a little of what was done to it. I don't have that much money in my wife's car. I do think Suzuki will be the first with the bike I'm looking for. The 250R was great but the 450R is not there yet. lol.gif

The Zuk EFI is not a closed loop system...it is open loop...sorry, no auto mixture adjusting.

Yosh does have an EFI controller that allows you to adjust the fuel curve (map) in 500 rpm increments (if I remember correctly), but there will be a learning curve involved too and I am sure a lot of dyno time to get the right curve (map) with your mods.

Word on the rumor mill is install Yosh Cherry Bomb and remove air box and pea shooter and you are good...install full exhaust and you need the EFI controller to dial it in as it will be dangerously lean.

I agree, already wide, long, and low CG...revalve the shocks and should be a very nice duner...not counting the motor. KBR is dynoing an LTR as we speak so we should have some graphs late tonight or early tomorrow...no way I would bank on even close to 50 HP without opening the motor up and modding.

My personal guess is 39-40HP with pea shooter removed, no lid, and Cherry installed...

Looks like Honda is the way to go if you got the money. eck05.gif
