Hey, can you lock the Variable differential lock on the Brute or do you have to hold on to it with your finger the whole time.. I know you can modulate it, but does it have a locked position where you can lock it and leave it?
I'm looking for a 4x4 for deer hunting..

I know on the origional prarie 650 you had to pull the lever whenever you wanted diff lock. It worked very well but was a pain in the ass in the real tricky mud/ruts.

Hmmm that sucks.. I'm kinda in a toss up between the Grizzly and the BF 750.. I like the V Twin and power of the BF, but the ground clearance and diff lock on the Grizz.. I guess I could rig up a zip tie on the handlebar that I could stick the lever under when I wanted it full locked without holding it..

Duc Tape!! Seriously,,,If you know any machinist you could make a bracket that would fall into place when you want the lever locked maybe a spring on it to keep from accidently locking. I personally would stay away from the Griz if your looking for alot of power,,,,Dont get me wrong,,,the Griz is fast and will get up and rip but its at a snails pace compared to a Brute Force!!!

Im sure if the diff lock is electrical.. you could easily wire up an on off toggle switch...
The brute force is fast... it won the 600 and over utility class grass drags and was moving pretty good for a tank.

I believe the BF's diff lock is run off a cable that works the clutches inside the diff.. I'm guess zip tie or custom something would be the way to go..
P.S. Ryan, your Avatar kicks arse..

you do have to hold the lever to keep the BF locked. have you considered the Bombardier Outlander 800? i have ridden both and the Bomber is a much beter machine in all way that i could describe.

I have considered it, but dang, they're kinda pricey.. To get the outlander 800 the way I want it, it's almost $10,000... I can get ahold of a Brute 750 for less than $7900.. I have tried, but I cannot justify spending that much more on it.. They are very impressive machines though..

Hey,,,did a little research and there is a lock for the lever on the Brute Force 750,700's and 650's,,,its made by PBR which is penland brothers racing. (Im sure youve heard of Mike Penland!) anyhow,,,you bolt the lever up to it and it has a button that holds the lever in similiar to the old freestyle bikes with brake locks.
Heres a link to it on Highlifters website and a picture,,,hope this helps,,,,,,,Don
