where should i split the engine on the left side of the crankcase where the fly wheel is or from the clutch side

when you split the cases, if you dont remove the ratchet from the shift drum, the tranny will stay in the right side. if you do, it should stay in the left.

Not sure really. I havent taken my flywheel off but after taking apart the clutch, starter clutch and a buncha misc gears on the clutch side its really not as confusing as most would think it would be. Just take your time and keep containers to organize all your bolts and gears. Label them too. Service Manual helps too.

But it sounds like your going to have to take everything apart regardless if your splitting the cases.

^^ This is the correct way ^^ Leave the tranny in the right half. No need to remove any tranny gears.
