Hi everyone, newbie here. I recently got an 05 450r and i am wondering, what are some things i should be doing to it to make it race ready? I am talking about like little tinkers and etc things that are specific (or not) to this bike. (such as on my ol Z, getting rid of those crappy plastic fasteners.) I don't race often yet so im not planning on doing anything major to it. Also, are there things i should watch out for?

Things i did so far:

Messed with the shocks and got them working a lot better.
pro design kill switch
ordered a gripper seat and 13t sprocket

Things i'm planning to do:

lights?

parking brake block off

grease or antiseize anything that pivots

make sure everything is tight

raise the bars. what are good options for that? (besides a new steering stem) is the Tusk riser kit a bad idea?

pro peg nerfs

Also does anyone know hourly intervals for oil changes (trans and engine) for racing and non racing? (I am getting an hour meter).

Thanks in advance

-Ethan

Yeah like posted before tires and nerf bars are a must. Get a good set of 1 1/8 bars and a set of the tusk risers will be fine. I run stock stem with tusk risers and Flexx bars on my MX bike and love it. They raise your bars 3/4 of an inch for 50 bucks so until i bend my stem ill keep that set-up. The only real complaint i ever had with my old 05 was where the back fenders come up and snap in under the tank. when i rode hard i was constantly pulling mine out somewhere and catching my leg on them. I finally just cut them off about 2 weeks before i found out they make some replacement snaps for them haha oh well. I noticed they changed that design a little on the 06+ so i must not have been the only one with that problem. Other than that you got a great quad man use it to its full potential

DANG, I HAVE TO GET A JOB!!! I'll probably get razrs when the stockers wear out. If i were to get a stabilizer i would prob get the precision and that is EXPENSIVE!!! Maybe i could find a used one for cheap...

I have some crappy tusk nerfs that came with the bike. (I broke the nets after two rides.) Im getting pro-pegs pretty soon.

thanks for your help.

Yeah i have always wanted flexx bars. again, $$$... Thanks for that info about the rear fenders, i'll look into that.
