how to polish a frame, first get some aluminum air craft paint stripper. Apply some of that, be very careful not to get it on your skin. And then start sanding, start from 400 grit work from, 600, grit then 800 grit, then 1000 grit. be sure to wet sand it. Then lastly after some 20 hrs of sanding start polishing! Then you're done. Just look at mine it turned out pretty good. In the end it's alot of work!!

Your sub-frame is aluminum and can be polished (as drider has done and stated). A clear powdercoat after the polishing however would be

I'm actually in the process of polishing my sub-frame right now. Along with the engine (everything except for the middle cases). It's alot of work, especially using just sand paper and mothers aluminum polish.

If you want to save alot of time, buy an aluminum polishing kit off ebay or one from eastwood.com With the correct buffs and polishing compounds you can cut your sanding time in half and achieve a brighter color (a mirror type finish).

Also, to cut the sanding time down to nothing, have the sub-frame sand blasted or bead blasted and then just polish it up.

i did mine a little different to save some time.

first dont sandblast it, sand balsting will take off and groove the aluim where the powdercoat is tuff.

as drider said use alum aircraft striper, the stuff in a spraycan makes this easy. after it bubles up pressure wash it. the pressure washer will remove most of the powdercoat. you will most likely have to doe this a second time and maye a third. but hey, spraycan and pressure washing isnt to hard.

next there will be small amounts of the powdercoat left in hard to reach places and aroung the welds. take and have it glass beaded. glass wont damage the alum. like sand will.

now comes the sanding and polishing.

good luck its ALOT of work
