Default Which clutch kit?

I am due for new clutch plates, fibers, and springs....i know a lot of people run crf450r clutches....

What does everyone run minus hinson and rekluse...

I usually grab tusk...have had good luck with them....the crf clutches have a lot more options out there as far as brands go....

whats everone's $.02?

The past couple of clutches I have put in mine have been OEM 06/07 Honda CRF450R clutches. They are pricey tho (part number: 06001-MEN-001).

Here's a little write up that may be helpful: GHOTT's 2005 Honda TRX450R Clutch and Clutch Spring Info

Truth be told, the next time I have to buy a new clutch, I'll probably just go with a Rocky Mountain ATV Tusk brand 2006 CRF450R clutch to save some $$$.

so to install a 2006 crf clutch on my 2005 trx450r i would just need to install the new 2006 crf450r clutch plates without the judder spring and judder seat? is there anything else i would need to do to my clutch. crf450r clutch springs? any mods to the clutch basket?

Yes, you use all '06 CRF450R fibers/steels, no judder spring.

It would be good to upgrade your clutch springs at the same time. You can use anything from CR500 springs to Dark Synergy or Tokyo Mods springs. Depends on how much hp/tq your engine makes and how you want the clutch pull to feel.

No mods to the clutch basket are required. If your clutch basket is deeply notched, get a new one or file it down.

I can tell you exactly why... price! No way would I spend that much when a tusk crf clutch with springs for 1/3 the price will take all I can throw at it!

That's a great example of bad grooving! It usually affects engagment and dis-engagement when worn that bad. That basket is bad enough to need a replacement but in some cases where it's just slightly grooved, you can carefully take a flat steel file and smoothen the basket grooves to get more life from it.
