Default motors cuts out/bogs on high rpm

I cant figure out whats going on with my quad. It ran fine before it sat for a couple months. When I went to ride it you couldnt even go to 1/2 throttle in any gear. I took the carb apart and cleaned it up now it wont run right at high rpm. Any help would be appreciated.

Either the main jet circuit is still clogged up, or you messed up the float level and its starving for fuel at high rpms.

also try turning your air/fuel screw in all the way and bring it back out 1 1/4 turn, also replace the spark plug, a plug going bad can cause it too cut out when running.

You might want to also check the petcock. I have an 05 that sat for a couple years and last year I checked several things to prep for a ride on the dunes. I pulled the carb and cleaned all the jets and also pulled the petcock out of the tank just to check it, the petcock screen appeared mangled / deteriorated but after cleaning the jets she fired right up and seemed to run OK around the parking lot so I loaded her up and I was off to Sand Mountain. At the dunes she repeatedly seemed to be starving for gas intermittently at high RPM's. Today I'm preparing for another Sand Mountain trip so first I replaced the entire petcock with new and this appears to have solved the issue, full throttle up and down the street several times through all gears, no hesitation, no starving for fuel, WAAAHOOOO! Now I gotta pull out the new 04 that has sat for the last 7 years and see If she's gonna cooperate.

what are your mods and jetting? too big of a main jet will cause this also.
