Default 450er won't start. Help????

I have a 2006 stock 450er that will not start. The last time I rode it was 2 months ago and when I put it away it ran perfect. I went out to start it up and ride it around the yard and the battery was dead so I threw the charger on it for the night. When I went out the next morning to start it up it would not start, it just keeps cranking and will not start. I checked the kill switch, and fuel is on, and tank is full. Any suggestions what I should do? Thanks

Have you tried to push start it?...if it starts then your battery is dead and you should change it.

Try draining the fuel out of the float bowl and tank and throw in some FRESH fuel. If the fuel has sat for 2 months, it is quite old. That might be your problem.

Have you tried fresh fuel yet? That two months of sitting is a long time for fuel to sit unless it has Stabil in it. Also, when it cranks over, put your hand at the end of the exhaust and then smell it to see if gas is getting through. If it doesnt smell like gas your carb might be gummed up.

Yep

run some fresh fuel through carb after draining gas tank completely and refilling

like as in leaving the float Bowl drain open to flush all old fuel out of petcock and fuel lines if it still will not start check for spark

but you probably have a dirty carb

I'll try draining the fuel and the carb and put new fuel in it. Wierd, because I always let my other 450s and all other toys sit for 2 months or more and have never had a problem. O well, thanks guys!

what has changed in fuel over the past several months? my toyz will often sit for months w/o starting.... especially my sleds and boat.... never have an issue with starting.... but hey, it never hurts to swap out the fuel... might have gummed up or caused some other flow issue that is not allowing the plug to get wet.... who knows...

Is your fuel screw still there?they have been known o fall out.Valves/decomp set properly...if the temperature was much warmer before it may have started even with decomp off...but it may need adjusting. Is the starter clutch acting up?

I always store with fuel stabilizer...but if only a couple months...it's doubtful that is the problem unless the gas was already old when you put it in.

Good luck

well he said other ones and that could have been a few years ago !!!!! besides 2 month old fuel in a plastic gas tank with a vented carb will go south /Sour/Bad and if you live in the desert south west a month is enough where it's 112+ in summer and still hot at night no fuel will last stabil or not and it was 108 today

we do not get snow storms here

we get sand storms

whats going on with the new 12%+ thats supposed reduce emissions soon

I thought they were stepping it up to 15% ethanol???? Anyway, any step up sucks, especially for boat owners like myself. That stuff just causes more and more issues. So far, I havent had any but I have a fuel/water filter on both of my boats.

Well thats a little better i guess. Still not good though. I know boaters are taking a huge hit even with 10% ethanol. People with older motors are having the most trouble because the ethonal will actually break up the rubber hoses. And it really separates out the water in the gas tank and can cause engine trouble. Oh well. I guess we will see where this goes.
