I have a 05 450 with a hot cams stage two camshaft, k&N air filter, DMC full exhaust, and no airbox lid.. What jet brand should i use (Dynojet, Kehin, ect.)? and what size should i start at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been confused on jetting because many people say that the different brands have different size inlets even if they have the same jet number.

Just get with woodward and tell him you need the hrc jet kit with 50 pilot unless you already have new pilot and hrc main needle then yeah 185k

do i need to put the needle on a new clip or adjust the air/fuel screw?

Best thing for you if you can afford it would be the full HRC kit. It comes with a GREAT camshaft and the airbox lid and a set of Keihin jets and a needle. If you cant afford the full kit with the cam, just get the HRC jet kit. Chuck the 185 main, 48 pilot, set the needle in the middle, turn the screw 2.5 out, and it should get you VERY close.

I run dynojet kit because I bought and installed it before I knew better. It took some work and trial and error but I got mine DIALED PERFECT on the jetting. However if I had to do it again, HRC jets all the way.

2005 450r.

12.25 Venom, HC2, Rossier pipe, no airbox and QuadWorks K&N knockoff w/ outerwear.

Dynojet plug in air bleed
Stock pilot.....i dunno what size it is to be perfectly honest...
Dynojet needle, one clip richer (down) from middle

I bounced between a 185 and 170 main. IT ran good with the 180/185 but hit a false rev limiter up top....too rich. I backed off until that went away and ended up at 175. Its just a shade rich at my elev but I go to sea level ro race frequently and it works great. I could prolly go to a 165/170 and be great. Dynojets instructions put me waaaay to rich. So rich it wouldnt rev past about 4000rpm before it choked and farted on itself. In fact im going up to St Anthony later this week for a weekend for dune thrashing at 5200ft. Ill take my kit and see if the 160/165 runs good.

Also, am I right in hearing that these 450's run a bit faster with the a/f on the slightly leaner side? Anyway here is a chart I found for converting jet sizes...

As of now, my carb is 100% stock, my elevation is roughly 1200ft. so does the 185main, 50 pilot, fuel screw 2.5 out and needle on middle still sound good?

talked to my local honda shop and ended up getting the HRC Jet kit. It came with the 185 main and the new needle. the guy i talked to said that o did not need a new pilot jet, but i thought i needed a 50 pilot or somthing bigger. What do you think, i haven't rode it yet, i will tomarrow though(hopefully)
