Ok here's the deal, I want to save time with the jetting and hopefully start with a jet close enough I wont have to take the carb on and off 5 times. I was wondering if anyone has done similar mods and what your take on the jetting is.. I have a Full Akrapovic Racing & Evolution Exhaust System, and instead of removing the lip completely I cut and inserted (6) 1'' foam inlets for more breathing for my 2007, and the stock main jet was at -120- and the Pilot was at -42- I bumped the main up three sizes to a -128- and the pilot one size to a -45-, is that going to be enough? I heard of another trx rider on his 06 by just removing the air box and a full exhaust he was at 180+ on the main. I'm asking this because I want to limit the amount of times I pull the carb if someone can just get me close.

Maybe these? I have about 10 installed. Don't know for sure if they help or not.

I live in arizona as far as jetting and mixture goes, so am I hearing right that i'm going to have to jump from a 120 stock main jet to a 162??? from only a full exhaust and air box mod? and i"ll post some pics later tonight when I install the filters on the box. There (6) 1'' foam cut outs that snap in (obviously require dirlling), you can get them off the PU catalog and most parts dealers might carry them. The thing is there is only so much that can be accomplished I honestly think six of those will be the same as 3 because the inlet in the carb can only take so much volume anyways that it has to become excessive as some point. Its only going to suck in so much air at a time anyways.

Also my R didnt come with an adjustable needle. which pissed me off a little.. does anyone know if the CRF450R's needle is compatible with the TRX450R's. there almost identical carbs same size also. flat slide roller.

alot of people running NO air box lid and K&N filters for the MAX amount of air possible

cutting 6 of the little filters into the top of a lid will probably still be the choke point in the flow

162 may be a little big but I have no idea how much flow your going to get from your lid

(it would be about right for no lid)

most of us dont run those mini filter plugs used back in the day.......

they were once quite popular on the older two strokes....and we would oil them up as well to help stop some of the dirt from entering the air box....but usually 'most' of us would use about twenty of them dang things.....it never seemed like six were enough.....

so...with that being said...I dont believe your gonna quite get the flow your looking for with just six.... hence the reason why most choose to either just remove the lid....or use some type of air box eliminator kit.....

so any jetting recommendations would just be guessing on my part....

however.....plan on anything between 130 and 160.....

or...add another dozen or so of those mini-filters and go with 162 main and maybe 45 slow jet.... but if it were me...and I wanted to eliminate the guess work.... just buy an HRC jet kit.... remove the lid for NOW..... and have fun... then mod your lid as you see fit but adding as many of those filters as you need until she runs correctly (not rich) after installing the HRC kit....

plus...the HRC kit will give you a nice adjustable needle as well...... .and no, the 06/newer machines do not come with adjustable needles....

if going this route....dont use a #45 slow jet (pilot)...the NGPR needle will be sufficient for increasing the fuel at low/mid rpms....
