the shifter shaft runs through the transmission......
it is possible, that someone inadvertently plugged the tranny vent....
this is the line that comes from the back of the cylinder and up into the black plastic tank protector.... it has no cover or plug on it....it simply goes upward from the cylinder... makes a U-turn... and gets stuck into an opening in the top of tank protector....
if it becomes plugged....or someone mistakingly plugged it (it happens).... then this might be your cause....
