Has anyone ever had the oil seal around the shift rod push out under normal riding conditions? Last weekend I was at a local riding spot that we go to all the time and I was riding the way I always do (Fast Trail). When we came back to the trailer to get a bit to eat I noticed that there was a puddle of oil and that the seal had pushed out for what ever reason. I pushed it back in and topped off the oli and put a couple zip ties on the rod hoping it would be able to push the seal back out again. Could it be a motor vent line is pluged of pinched some how and built to much pressure in the case? Any help would be great I don't want it to happen again while riding and smoke the motor.

the shifter shaft runs through the transmission......

it is possible, that someone inadvertently plugged the tranny vent....

this is the line that comes from the back of the cylinder and up into the black plastic tank protector.... it has no cover or plug on it....it simply goes upward from the cylinder... makes a U-turn... and gets stuck into an opening in the top of tank protector....

if it becomes plugged....or someone mistakingly plugged it (it happens).... then this might be your cause....

here is a pic for reference.....hope it helps...

Happeed to me all the time! push it back in, get a hydrolic hose with the inside diamiter tha same size as your shift shaft, cut it about 1/4"longer than where your shifter would normaly sit, then push your shifter on it will be hard enough becaus it is STRONG rubber hose, then oncer your shifter is back on dont worrie about it anymore, no more leaks!!

No I have never messed with or taken the seal out. I will pull the vent tube off and check/clean it out and hope that is what casused it to push out. I can't belive that Handa didn't put a snap/retainer ring in there to hold the seal.

Thanks Guys
