I feel like a total noob asking this... But what is it that I need to do to the head to gain power? Does a port job and valve seat machining open it up to give me more power? Duncan racing offers that job for $450 ----> http://www.duncanracing.com/prods/PO-4VLV-VJ/ Is this a good deal? LOL. I need some major help with what to do.

Incase is matters, im running Ice Cube 498 with 13.5:1, rossier exhaust, hotcam 2. and aftermarket intake and jetting. But completely stock head, valves, everything.

you ought to search this topic, which can be a touchy subject at times.

Site sponsors that do it and I'd suggest you go through one of them:

KBR/Venom
WPP Racing
Rossier Eng.
Max Power

a 'Serdi' would not be used for porting....but rather for a valve job by cutting the seats.....

not a standard procedure for porting......

I can attest to Venom/KBR......... but wont count out other sponsors here on the org...

good luck.....Greg

i think the serdi and porting are standard procedure with them.. but the depends on the number of valve which give the final cost...

I have yet to see any documentation or dyno charts from companies like Duncan, Sparks, Pro-Circuit, Alba etc that show the gains they achieved by porting a 450. They might exist, but I haven't seen any of them.

Sponsors here actually show their results, and members verify and post results here.

Proof is in the pudding - as they say. I would never buy anything from anyone that is not willing to have their results published and showcased.

Here's a couple;

Rage Atv / Dee Manshack - Builder for the 2005 National Champ, John Natalie

Dasa / Dan Lamey - Builder for the 2006 National Champ, Joe Byrd

I've never used Dasa, but I have experience with Rage. Highly recomended!

Awesome... Thanks for the help guys! Both Rage and Dasa have VERY good credentials... but looks like I will be going through Dasa since their shop is only 15 min away. Ill be sure to post up the flow chart when it gets done.

I think we'd all be much more interested in a dyno run...

flow charts don't mean anything...and sometimes they mean less than that.....

a dyno run...done on the industry standard : DYNOJET..... would be a lot more useful for a comparison that really means the most for the most people....
