I know how someting can change yoiur viewpoints and just how you live your life in general. A week ago i wrecked my harley doing about 60. I cam into a blind left hand corner and caught some gravel and piled it up in the ditch but, the strange part about it is that i walked away from it with nothing more than than a few bruises and scrapes. I live in wyoming but wrecked in washington where they have a helmet law where wyoming doesnt. If I hadnt been wearing one I wouldve been DOA for sure. I definitly have a new outlook on life and it looks like you do to. Good luck with your recovery!!!!

Thanks 2007! And yeah jsouth it really changes the way you look and think about things. And honestly I have realized, we are the lucky ones in the long run. We really get quiet the view on things. And yeah it's just a good idea to wear a helmet on anything. I mean come on, how much is it going to hurt to just strap it on and go. And whats the worst thats going to happen, is someone going to make fun of yah for it? And if they do it's probably because they feel like an idiot for not wearing one haha. But it can make a huge difference. I'm a firm believer in strict mandatory helmet enforcement. We don't need to waste tax money on scraping brains off the interstate because someone couldn't strap on a helmet because it wasn't cool.

Thanks! And around here it is very rare to see a motorcyle rider wearing a helmet. It's also rare that you see a motorcylce rider doing the speed limit. They think they are indestructible even though things like this happen to people like me that prove that no one is indestructible. It happens all the time. It's just sad that people die because of a stupid decision.

Ya glad to hear you're doing allright. All it takes is a split second or one to many beers. And thanks for sharing maybe it will help some of us to think about things more carefully me included before we take off without gear for a short ride which are the ones that always get us. A guy I know last year jumped on his quad to head over to his neighbors house a couple hundred yards away and rolled it with no gear on and was in a coma for awhile and it was a few months before he was able to return to work. From what I understand he was only doing about 15 or 20.

Just an update, I'm now cleared to trail ride and the back is healing up rather well! The cold damp weather has been getting to me lately slowing down work a little but it was expected. Doctor says it's almost completely healed now but I still need to be careful. I'm cleared completely to ride and race aggressively on New Years Day. Figured I'd keep this thread up to show you guys what can happen. Your never sure whats going to happen. Wear that gear and be careful out there guys!
