Headpipe getting red is normal, don't idle your quad for long periods of time either its. Not needed. The smoke from the wd 40 is normal also its just burning off. Wd40 is good for your quad, it makes it shine and will prevent rust......

just let it smoke. as long as u dont keep adding more it will eventually stop. and i couldnt imagine anyhting on the muffler would cause the head pipe to be hotter.

The WD-40 shouldnt do anything harmful. After I bought my pipe I would wash it and just towel dry after awhile the pipe turned to crap. It was ugly as **** and I hated it. So I finally took it off and polished it up using sand paper working it form course to fine and finishing with steel wool. It came out better than new. I didn't want to have to do it again so I put WD-40 on a paper towel and wiped the pipe down. After the first time I ran it and I ran it hard it turned the pipe a nice gold color with the header pipe just around the bend blue. I liked it so I continued to do that everytime I washed my quad. Still looks like the first time I started putting it on and that was over a year and half ago.

If you want it off now, brake cleaner should do the trick. If not just burn it off, it will stop smoking.
