I stopped for a small break on the trail, went to press the start button and heard weeee. Starter turns but doesnt turn bike over. ReaLLY sux becase this is the best time to ride where I live, RIGHT AFTER THEY CUT THE CROPS~! I am currently trying to find the things I need to get her up and running as soon as possible~! same thing happened on my 06 less than a year after i got it. (i bought it new though) The starter was fine, but one of the gears was toast. It was replaced and has worked in perfect Honda form ever since. Since there are quite a few gears and a starter clutch in there...it might be cheap if its a gear...but could be a little pricey if its the starter clutch. The starter itself should be good if it is spinning and giving the dreaded "weeeeeeeeee" sound.
sorry to hear that though. |

It might not be the starter it could be the coil as well, you could have a weak coil that isnt getting enough spark and there could of been a little moisture by the coil wires that could be causing this. But most likely its the starter or starting gear. Wish you luck!

Just wanted to chime in again. THESE STARTERS ARE JUNK~! Mine decided to start working again! It went out on Wednesday, I tried it thursday morning and friday morning and got nothing. Tried it Sat. morning on my way out the door and it fired right up, loaded it up in my truck right then and there took it to work, and went riding that night after work.
I had an awesome ride, most of the bean fields and corn are down or are coming down! We rode for 4 hours it was awesome. THESE STARTERS SUCK~! Have a nice day.
