Hey y'all from Louisiana, got an 05 450 day fore yesterday thats weized at the big end pin. Its ugly!!! LOL I'll post some pictures with Tapatalk when i get back home on wifi.
Right now she's needing plastics, a crank rebuild, piston (has a scored up Namura in it now but the cylinder is true at a 94mm bore) and a general ground up rebuild. ah well, she'll get done. I've started with worse LOL

I may be stupid/blind... i could have sworn my calipers said 94mm i know the piston says 93.07 on it. i'll go stick them in it and take a picture of them. we bought it ($550) with the top end torn down and the rod seized on the big end pin. about as cheap as a complete 450 comes in my area. there are half trashed rollers selling for 500.... (stupid stupid peple thinking their bikes are worth $$$$$$$ now that i say this kfxguy is gunna pop in and tell me that im an idiot and that he sees them cheap as **** all the time LOL)

Ah ok! Well, from the vin it's an 06 do it may be an earlier motor in it. It's a kick-only motor
This is our first 450. Newest bike in the fleet LOL We have mostly older 70's-80's bikes

that is an 04, 05 cam tensioner, so you're motor is an 04/05 motor, hence the seized crank, lol it's notorious on those years. Also, your caliper and cylinder measurements are correct. 94mm.
it gets confusing because a 96mm on an 04/05 is actually considered a big bore 470. the 96mm on the 06+ is a 450cc. different strokes. Last edited by ridinlow; 02-17-2013 at 06:10 PM. |

Thank y'all tons for the info!!! Joining up has already had its benefits lol
Time for pics ![]() ![]() It came with a twist throttle (score!! Now I don't have to rob my stash LOL) ![]() ![]() Like I said, pulled the bottom end out of it today. Fastest. Pull. Ever! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (gunna have to get a parking brake delete) ![]() ![]() Someone took their time spray bombing the crap out of this thing. That green is THICK but is flaking off like crazy. It proabably looked good a riding season or 3 ago. ![]() ![]() K&N without an outer-wear: how is the cylinder not TRASHED?! Lol ![]() Rims aren't too terribly bad. Prolly gunna give them a good scotch-briting. ![]() Definitely needs plastics! Lol Well, that's it. First 450 project. What is the usual list of mods? Stage 2 cam, full exhaust system (if it doesn't have one already) ??? whats next? We want a good reliable play bike. Will be riding the river (sand, lots! Lol) and the trails at our camp (hills, pine needles, etc). Thanks again for the help y'all!

Ok thank you again.
With the stock CDI I seen a video called the 'green wire mod' but the guy didn't sound all there.......is this a smart thing to do or no? He said that you get a grand or so more rev's but that IMO seems a good way to screw a stock crank (other than it being for to 'dumb down' the engine in sure Honda's stock crank can only handle so much). Any thought there?
