Mixx-
Just wanted to extend a well deserved thanks and report more great results.
You recently ported a set of Banshee cylinders for a good friend of mine. He put it all together and started out with a set of 350 mains to see what she would do. He said it felt stronger, but didn't show the enthusiasm I was expecting. And this was prelim jetting before taking it in for a good dialing in.
Well, he got it back after being tuned up. It ended up going up one more clip on the needles and 360 mains. The poor guy nearly crapped himself when he rode it on the street. LOL.
Needles to say, he's VERY HAPPY with the results.
Thanks again!

The local dyno here is pro-tec. They were several weeks out on dyno time for some Suzuki R&D thing and a side by side R&D thing. MMAD is about an hour away, but he says he likes to do 4-strokes. Was more than willing to try it, but just said he's really a 4-stroke specialist. Very courteous and professional. DASA was another dyno choice, but he has not called on them yet. I am a little leary of bringing in a big "Venom" badged bike into DASA's shop. I was worried it might come off as a slap in the face.
As for the mods, it's got the first over bore, v-force reeds, cool head and 18cc domes, VENOM PORTING, and Toomey T-5 pipes. Stock carbs, tors removed, twist throttle conversion, open lid on the box. Not sure what kind of filter. The pistons are Wiesco.
After the bike was dialed in he was VERY enthusiastic. LOL.
I too would like to see what it puts down. We'll see how it does against my little 501.

Knowpig, how's the powerband with John's porting and the T5s. I've never been a very big T5 fan due to the tendency of them to produce a on/off powerband. With the right pipe / portwork, this can be overcome on a Banshee. Just curious as to how the bike feels from bottom to top with the T5s and the porting; mainly bottom and midrange as I'm sure it revs out like a bitch.

Tell him to either 1) get a 35mm single carb kit or 2) bore the stockers to 28mm and have fun with it. I'd go with the single carb setup as it produces more bottom (quite a bit more bottom), mid and topend than the stockers but the stockers bored will perform well also. Tell him to also get a timing plate ($30 on ebay) and advance that sucker to about 7 degrees.

Also, tell him he needs the biggest boost bottle he can find.....

just kidding....

I have not ridden the quad. He was just waving his arms and shaking his head in a happy sort of way.
He did say it seemed to want to rev forever.
I'll see what sort of details I can dig up for you.

very glad your friend is likikg his shee!

a true engine expert should be fluent in all aspects of both 2-stroke and 4-stroke performance IMHO.....

how about the dyno @ Alba ? close?

banshees have always been a love\hate relationship for me....i have done tons of them over the years, but i've only owned one myself....

i love the sound and power potential....modding the engines is very rewarding.... but i hate almost everything else about them....

widest powerband i have experienced in a banshee came from boyesen RAD valve reeds in conjunction with FMF woods pipe (porting, milled head too).... if it was above idle, it was in the powerband.....
