i had done...and shared a buttload of cam comparisons when i was testing them in the 511 stroker setup..... enough testing for me to pick the Hot Cams S3 as the overall winner in that engine...

when i put my TRX back together as a 470 pump gas stroker, i had assembled it with the HC S3 cam....

BUT

i can't leave anything alone for long.... i just have to know how my fav trx cam of all time...the HC S2 ....will work out in the 470 stroker engine....

i'm going to silver lake this weekend and i am going to be doing runs for customers this thursday....

my plan is to have the HC S2 in for the silver lake trip (torque hails the bacon, you know)...so i hope i will be doing the dyno testing with it this thursday also.....

stay tuned

Might have to sneak up there Thursday to watch some testing.

But only if I get done thrashing on my own secret project that I'll be taking to Silver Lake.

Somehow I always procrastinate until the last minute getting things done/cleaned/loaded for trips to the dunes. We'll see what happens.

Mixxer quote after swapping cams, cylinders, pistons and some more cams "I'm done."

Cylinder breaks, another change of cylinders, couple more cams. "I'm done."

What's a stroker stock bore on pump gas run like? Better switch pistons. "Very nice, I'm done"

You're right. You better try some more cams in that set up to...It will never end...Back to high comp soon I figure.

i'll get the graphs up soon......

but it went like this.... stock bore 471cc \ 3mil Venom pump gas stroker engine.....

best run with HC S3 was 59.15hp \ 36.5ish TQ

best run with HC S2 was 57.5 HP \ 37 + TQ

i left the HC S2 in my machine.... i like the earlier torque curves for my own riding.... the HC S2 owned the powerband up to 8000 RPM.... and the S3 was better from 8000 to the rev limiter.....

on bigger Big Bore\ Stroker setups than this one...the HC S3 has a bigger advantage.....

Lets see some dyno runs with the Web 208, I'd like to see how much more power.

Seems that stockbores that claim 60hp+ have this cam.

"claim" is the key word there...

the tests with the 208 on fairly highly modded machines.... show it to make about 1.5HP more than the HC S3...

but

the steep \ radical ramp rates make it very hard on the whole valvetrain...sacked springs...smashed seats..... broken valves...... so personally, i'm not the least bit interested in adding that much of a maintenance\unreliability issue just to get 1.5HP.....

the bottom line is that better flowing heads need less radical cams than do poor working heads..... that is a universal fact of engine building..... so maybe a cam that radical becomes worth more to some setups....
