I received a TRX 70 free. The gear box is a mess, no spark, and low compression. I got a good deal on an ATC 70 complete engine. Will the ATC 70 engine work with the TRX?

Maybe if you swap the whole engine. The trx has the gears up and the atc has them down.
the trx ignition is electronic and the atc is breaker point.
I know because I fixed my nephew's 1985 atc 70 that didn't have spark and tried to compare it with my sons 1986 trx 70 and came to find out that the atc had points.
It was nice, all the atc needed was to clean and adjust the points for it to work.
There is a possibility that the atc motor was from an older model year that could have been change in the past. But I doubt it! :ermm:
I am not familiar with an ATC 70 breaker points ignition system in place of a CDI. What electrical parts will I need to go along with the engine in order for it to work.
I don't think you need anything more. You just have wires for the on/off switch and the coil. It should be an easy swap.
