Default Value of this 1987 Honda 250R.... Need HELP!!

I'm not as familiar with the value of these machines these days with all the new 4 strokes out, but need some help. Do you think I could get $3,800 (minimum) out of this machine (I would just buy it for resale)? Also, it does look really nice and clean...

(Email I received from a person wanting to trade me this machine towards a rhino I am selling) I bought this 1987 Honda TRX250R for $4500 (265cc Race FTZ Total Performance Kit $5,000) which included Special Set-up Cylinder, Piston, Head $1500, Billet Gears & Trans $1000 with labor, 41.5mm Race Carb $500, Fuel pump set-up $300, Special ported intake tube Set with large K&N with outerwears $200, HP total ignition Set-up $600, Full Bore Fenders (the best) $600, Custom Seat, Shock Springs, & custom Kandy Frame Paint $400, Chrome A-Arms, and body parts $300, Aluminum Handle Bar Set-Up with kill switch $180, and more. Then i invested $2,500 into it, which includes: +4 - +6" Chrome swingarm $500, Billet Carrier $180, Full Aluminum Rear Axle Set-Up $850, New Fresh Piston $250 with labor, NEW Sand Tires Unlimited Padla Brats rear Paddle Tires with New Douglas Blue Label Rims $450 and Skat Trak Smooth Buffed Tires with 10X4 Lite Weight Wheels $280 etc. So i'm into it over $7000 (not counting the quad itself), and with the economy i would only get around $4500 with tires/wheels and about $4000 without. This quad will Smoke any TRX250R with 330, 350, 370, 400, 435 kit. FTZ Racing makes hand-down the fastest 250R's ever (Check-out their web-site), and the quad is very dune-able and has the front brakes still on, and weights under 250lbs with full tank of gas.

Thank you for the reply. You basically confirmed my thoughts. I was thinking I'll tell him I'll give him $3k towards the trade and hope to get $3,300 out of it.

I deal with 250r's almost exclusively and its not worth 3800 in this day and age, imo... stock framed bikes (unless restos or completely original) don't bring that much money... I'd say 2500-3000, or pass... my $0.02....

They are also a little off on the estimates for the upgrades... blowing smoke...

EDIT:
just noticed stock front aarms and stock shocks... no way worth 3800... I change my tune... $2000-$2500... imo... If you parted it there is nothing on that bike that will bring any money... the Fullbores are trimmed, so not worth much... stock 86/87 frame, stock aarms, stock shocks, aftermarket swinger +4's don't bring any money... 265, not a big bore motor... etc...

again these are my opinions...

So, am I crazy to think I can get $3,300 out of this machine (I told him I'd give him $3k)? I appreciate your opinion. It's obviously more educated than mine.

Also, you don't think that motor is worth as much as a big bore? Even if his claim is true (that it will beat most big bores out there)? Sorry, just can't afford to screw this up.

Honestly, I don't think so, but I could be wrong. 250r motors don't bring much unless they are 330-350PV motors and beyond. I picked up a 280cc fully built Curtis Sparts motor for 800 shipped... for instance... and it has a Hinson basket and Hinson clutch cover. The cover alone brings 400. I didn't see any of those rare parts like that on it.

Secondly he claims a "custom intake tube" etc, etc... You can get those from ESR for 40 bucks. All it is is an airbox eliminator kit, he's claiming $200... I don't think so... Swinger, +4,+6's only are good for the drag racing crowd and they don't tend to be that sought after... definitely won't bring 500. The motor might bring a 1000-1200 and I'd be surprised if so.

Looks like stock stem, stock everything, not even a powder coated frame, just painted...

The 41.5 Keihin might bring 150-180-ish... I've never heard of an HP total ignition, the Ignition of choice and highly saught after is the 01 CR ignition with ESR adaptor plate. They'll bring $300.

I don't know man, smells fishy to me, there is absolutely no way a 265 anything will beat a 370-430 Puma's... period.

I'll ask around on the 250r site, to see what they think, see if they've heard of an HP Total Ignition. This was just my opinion from what I've seen on 250r's...

It actually does have a Hinson clutch and basket:

Also i forgot the $800 Hinson clutch set-up. It does have rear Hole-Shots with rims, plus extras ( Premix, extra transmission gears, etc.). I know he's inflated all the parts, as I am a parts dealer, so if he paid too much that's his problem. I'm more concerned with just being able to move this thing. I know his paddle set up is expensive too. I'm not sure I could back out of the deal now, but want to know what I've gotten myself into. I really do appreciate your input. I also have no desire to part it, so hopefully can move it in the condition it's in.

Also worth noting, I do know this guy, I've done deals with him in the past. He is usually pretty anal about his stuff and tends to do a good job on the bikes he builds (or has built). I don't think he's the type to take me for a ride.
