Default 2011 Baja 1000 build

Starting A Build for the Baja 1000, so the next couple of months should be iteresting. pretty new to the Desert racing considering i am from Kentucky. but we are going to make the journey in November and try our luck in Mexico. if anybody has an appion or idea that may help with this build i would greatly appreciate it.

the bike is a new left over 08 Honda 450r i picked up in January, the frame has ben gusseted by Dirtworks Motor Sports in Missouri. and Powder coated by Ronnie Bloodworth from Illinois. the front end is from Ed at Teixeira Tech. Still waiting on alot of parts, its been hard trying to receive support for a kind of racing were not known for doing, so some of the parts are slow moving as money comes available.

Good luck and keep us updated . I know there are some pro desert racers on here that can give you much better advice than I as a local dez rat, so I'll leave that up to them.

By the way, the pictures you attached aren't working.

For the people that don't know. That bike is being built for PRO level racing with PRO level riders. Jake is a PRO that eats up the Mid South series and did his damage to the OXC series. Watch this build!!!!! Its gonna be impressive! I promise you that!

Look for a Ram mount system and a Garmin. I use the 60csx. Its a nice weather proof system with nice color display. And it leaves a breadcrumb trail incase you guys get lost. Every shrub looks the same out there. Good luck. im excited to see this. Love rippin the desert.

Good luck with the build. Ill be in the 1000 ! As spectator, been going to Baja for a few years. If u guys need anything from over there, hit me up and ill see what i can do. Remember something very important, in this race is not power that help u win but rediability...

Id go with a lowrance gps with a custom mount and hardwired to your battery. Handlebar space might be limited once you mount your lights...which btw, I recommend you run some LEDs...atleast an 18" bar. So I would hold off on ordering any gps unit until you have your lighting.

Have you guys figured out logistics with gas/parts/rider changes?

I'll be at the 1000 too, def the race of the yr. All I can say is prep, prep and prep, lots of prerunning (not on race quad) and several shakedown runs on the quad.

Good luck!
