It started out nice when i rolled out of bed around noon to my newly arrived PRM skid plates which i ordered for my 05 450. took them to the garage and opened the box. everything was great so i decided to go ahead and throw them on in preparation for tomorrow's ride. as i pulled off the stock plastic engine skid i noticed one of the bolts was a little tight. the more i loostened the bolt more i realized there was a problem...... the stock bolt on 2 month old 450 (which i am the first owner of) was stripped in the hole. WOW. i couldnt have been more thrilled to find this problem........i mean pissed .. anyways just thought i would post up to see if anyone else had ever run into anything like this with their bike. it wasnt really that bad i just retapped it but kinda frustrating

Way worse than you. When I was taking out the tranny drain bolt on my new 2006, I could tell it wasn't right as I had to turn it out all the way with a socket. Needless to say, the threads were screwed up. I knew the dealer wouldn't believe me so I didn't even try. I got a die and fixed the bolt and threaded it back in then took it out and used the die again. By the 2nd time in, I could just screw it in by hand. Plus, I wasted a quart of oil making sure any metal filings that might have been in there hopefully got washed out with the oil. Hopefully, it will all be fine. I'll know when I go to change the tranny oil next time.
