Can someone explain to a beginner what different tire sizes do to a quad's performance. I still can't decide what size rear paddle to get for a little drag racing and messing around. Also, a tire size for trails. I am getting holeshots and haulers.

A good sized tire for is 20". For every 2" you go up or down in tire size thats like droping or adding one tooth in the front spocket. For example, The stock tires on a 450r are 20" if I droped the rear tires down to 18" for mx thats equall to dropping on tooth in the front spocket.

The size of tire will tell you the roll out, its better to have more roll out. Depending on where you ride and if you hillshoot or flat drag, you want less paddles going up the hill and more flat dragging. I would 8 paddle if you hillshoot, flat drag and play around, will be a all around tire.
